Well, I guess I have to keep going. For some reason I kept putting off writing another entry; I really don't know why. I'm experiencing a huge writer's block right now. I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Mine was good, although what some might consider unconventional. Since I've been unable to afford to travel home to my parents' for the holidays (home being the Southern Interior of BC) I stayed with a friend here in Calgary. I had a fantastic time with him and his family. I got way more chocolate than I know what to do with, and then I went and spent some of the money I recieved from other loved ones. I love buying stuff. To be more precise, I love buying stuff for other people, but buying stuff for myself is fun too.
Here's something I referred to last time. I've had this in the back of mind a lot lately, more so during Christmas. I watch the news whenever I can, because it's always been important to me to have some idea about what's happening in the world. I especially like watching CBC newsworld. So I'm a nerd. Sue me. Anyways, I've seen a lot on the news about the chronic Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and it just seems so strange to me, considering people in the middle east are willing to fight so much over such a relatively small area, one that some consider less than attractive, and we in Canada live in such a huge country and enjoy peace and tranquility, so much that we take it for granted. I always like to have an opinion on the big issues, so when I see this stuff on the news, I try to figure out who "I root for". Sometimes I side with Israel, what with them having been God's chosen people and all, and since Christianity came out of Judaism, I feel a bit of kinship with them. Perhaps my irrational side is annoyed with Islam, since it started after Christianity, like "What? Our religion isn't good enough for you?"
But I like to think I'm a bit more impartial than that. Still, I tend to sympathize with Israel. But other times, I'm just overwhelmed by the futility of the struggle, and I see how people on both sides feel so strongly about their cause that they're willing to kill and die for what they believe in.
There wasn't really supposed to be any big point to this rant, I just felt like saying what I think. Does it make sense? Tell me what you think.
One of these days, I might try and find some of my old books from English or Creative Writing class, see if they can give me any ideas as to how to make this little exercise of mine more entertaining for all of us. I've got lots of ideas, I just have trouble putting them into words.
And now for the shortest joke in the world:
1st guy: "Duck!"
2nd guy: "Where?"
By the way, here's a tip for any other bloggers out there, in case you haven't already thought of this. Just before you hit the publish button, highlight and copy what you wrote. I did that just now, and good thing, cuz I got another error msg, and would've lost the whole mess had I not copied it. This may be old news to most people, but if it helps one person...
