Abortion?:If women really want to have control over their own bodies, they should have enough control to keep their legs closed, or just accept the consequences. That only applies to women who have had consensual sex, especially if they did it with someone they're in a stable relationship with. I sound like an ass if i say i don't support abortion for women who were raped, and of course i really can't identify with that kind of horror, but if any women who are raped and get preggers decide to carry the baby to term, i think that might be the best way to bring something good out of something so awful. I know at least one woman who did that. If you're not in a postion to raise this kid, then i think putting it up for adoption can make a huge difference in the lives of two parents who may not be able to have kids. I've met a couple people in that position too. Not that it really matters who i know, but whatever. My original answer for this question was short, mostly cuz i was doing a survey on a site that only allowed so much room to answer each question, and i guess i was bright enough to think up all these well thought out answers, but not so smart that i could've copied each subject heading into my blog and given the full length answers that were warranted. So ya, Robyn, Kurt and everyone else who was razzing me about this and a couple of my other answers, i actually did think of all those special circumstances.. Nyahh.. Also, i didn't take into account the non-consequences that the male in this situation has to go through cuz he doesn't really have to go through a whole lot when it comes to abortion, or childbirth (except his own, of course). Or did i miss something, Tricky?:P The consequences for him come after the kid is born, when he and his wife/girfriend/partner share responsibility. That's a separate issue, though. I know some people support abortion, well no, not necessarily support it, but are pro-choice because they don't want women to get abortions done illegaly in back alleys or whatever. I certainly don't either, but I don't believe supporting choice because of that is acceptable. That's mostly cuz i'm an idealist, so that's just my bias, but i don't believe in supporting something you don't really believe is right just to prevent something even worse being done. Unfortunately, i don't have a better solution that will work in the real world, at least not until the whole world comes to it's senses and puts me in charge. Mwahahahahaaa.
Death Penalty?:If it was up to me, i wouldn't allow the death penalty anywhere, but then again, i'd do everything i could to make serious offenders pay for the expenses they incur.
Prostitution?:How can you justify sleeping with a woman you've only just met? and degrading one of God's greatest gifts to humanity by paying for it? I've heard lots of arguments that you should legalize it, so you can regulate it, and make it safer for everyone involved. It still doesn't make it right.
Alcohol?:Take responsibility for your actions. If you can't handle it, don't do it.
Marijuana?:I don't like anything that takes away one's control over their own body. Hmm.. guess that includes alcohol. dang. BTW, Tricky, I sound like i'm on the fence, because that's how i feel. I like drinking, but i realize that alcohol and pot and other drugs have similar effects on people - taking away people's ability to control their actions, and stuff, so i feel pulled in two different directions. Should i take a stronger stance in one direction or the other? Or should i be honest and admit my ambiguity?
Other drugs?:Same. Or moreso, since a lot of them are even more harmful.
Gay marriage?:Civil unions are fine, but why do gay people want to get married in a church, if that church doesn't support, or completely support their union?
Illegal immigrants?:It's not like we earned the right to live in this country just by being born in it. I don't want criminals and bums coming here, but Canada isn't ours to keep for ourselves.
Smoking?:What's the point to it, anyways? spend money, kill yourself slowly, pollute the air, take money away from MY healthcare system; gee, what's the downside? At the same time, I don't mean to sound totally insensitive to how difficult it can be to quit smoking. I've never done it, but i understand it's incredibly addictive. But i've known lots of people who've quit, so I know it can be done.
Drunk driving?:I think that's basically attempted murder. I'm not sure what the punishment should be, but whatever it is, i'm sure it's not severe enough.
Cloning?:If God wanted more than one of you, he would have made more than one of you. And He does that sometimes, with twins, triplets, etc.
Racism?:It seems pointless and stupid to differentiate between groups of people based on their appearance. that's a given, though. I don't think this is really a tough question.
Premarital sex?:I'm not sure if the sex itself is the problem, it's all the crap that happens afterwards. Sex isn't something you get to do casually, it's a special gift from God.
Religion?:It bugs me that people's inability to understand their own language makes them think that religion is bad. You see the worst examples of religion and think they're all like that. I didn't get reamed out too badly for my answer here, but i want to expand it so that people understand fully what i'm talking about. According to Merriam-Webster, Religion is: the service and worship of God or the supernatural (2) : commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance. That wasn't the only definition, but it was the most thorough and accurate. In modern times, Religion has become associated with legalistic, judgmental holier-than-thou attitudes held by a certain part of the church. If the outward appearance of those people reflects their hearts, then they are probably not devout followers of their faith. But you may assume that because those people go to church, temple, synagogue or whatever else, that they are actually part of it. Therefore, because they belong to a religion, religion is bad. So you need to come up with a new word for seriously seeking a personal relationship with God, or whatever else you do. But without realizing it, you're allowing others to change your language without anyone realizing it. A hundred years ago, mentally disabled people were called Idiots. Then they were called Retarded people. Then mentally handicapped, then mentally challenged. They had to keep changing the words because the terms they were using were used as insults. What happens when we run out of terms to use? Sorry, but this really pisses me off. When i refer to someone as retarded, and they actually are retarded, i don't mean it as an insult. It's not my fault some people are too dumb to realize that. Same with religion. I and lots of my friends are very religious, and there's nothing necessarily wrong with that. Either look up these words in the dictionary or write a better one, people. /
The war in Iraq?:everything that Saddam did wrong, has been done just as bad by another country. the war was all about oil. email me for more thoughts.
Bush?:I guess he's trying his best. He's not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree. a lot of my thoughts about him are related to the war.
Downloading music?:Music is art, it should be available to the whole world. Everyone needs music, never mind wanting it. just don't resell it.
The legal drinking age?:Dunno. 18, i guess. or 19. doesn't matter so much, now that i'm past it. i don't think it's a huge problem that our legal age is lower than the U.S.'s.
Porn?:I'm not sure i can say much about this.. it'd be sort of hypocritical:) but the whole objectifying women, damaging their self esteem, hurting them in any way, pisses me off. I'm not sure how i can comment on this subject any differently without lying. If i sound like i'm contradicting myself, or sound hypocritical, it's because i'm just admitting that there's a battle between my two halves, or as Paul put it in Romans 7:14-16. Sorry if me going all biblical bugs you, i just don't know a better way to explain why i act like such a wad sometimes.
Suicide?:Life is one of the greatest gifts God gave you, right up their with Salvation, and sex and all that. Don't throw it away, cuz there's always an alternative.

What is your stand on..... brought to you by BZOINK!

harmony
Harmony. It's inner peace for you, or at least
trying to find it. The shell you live your life
in is akin to monks of old. You'd be more
comfortable if things were less stressed and
made a little more sense, so you try to get
just that. You survive the end by not letting
it happen. You didn't stop it, but you
supported those who did. I'm glad you took a
break from meditation to take the quiz...

How would you survive the end of the world?
