buying stuff from an elderly dead woman, and spying on my friends
Ok, so most of you already know, and a lot of you don't really care, but I moved again. If you're losing track, this is the second time this year I've moved. I moved 2 doors down the street, so it wasn't too tough, and I'm on my own, in a bachelor suite. It's great. As soon as I get some more furniture, everyone needs to come visit. And I mean everyone. Well, except for you. I've got a great view of downtown, and I'll try and put up one or two pics on here when I can. I don't have tons of space, but it's enough for me.
I went to an estate sale yesterday with Will and Thomas. That was interesting; I've never been to one before. I just bought a couple little things, the best of which is probably a really comfy chair that I snagged for only $10.
Now here's something that just blew my mind. I don't think I've been this impressed by a website in a long time, but go look at it, and I think you'll be pretty jazzed. Some of you might already know that Google has a map site that I think works much better than mapquest, or any of that other crap I've seen. You can grab the map and drag it around, zoom in and it doesn't take an hour to redraw the map everytime you move it 2 inches, or zoom in or out. Ya, ya.. so I found a website with good maps. You care why? Type in an address, say the address of your house, or something. Now hit the "satellite" button in the top right corner. Seems google just bought a satellite imaging company, and now they're in the business of spying on us! Or rather, they're letting us all spy on each other. Depending on where you live, you can get incredibly good resolution on the highest magnification setting. Or, if you're way out in the sticks, the best you'll get is bright green fuzz. Or they might say they don't have imagery for that area at that zoom level yet. I think they should just have the message, "Here there be Dragons". With the satellite, I was able to find the building where I live, I can see cars driving on the highway (not in real time, though), and I could find most major landmarks in Calgary, and elsewhere in BC and Alberta. That's about all I can tell you now.
By the way, check out the link in the previous post; it's for a good cause.
